What weight of Climax Media will I need for a 48 qt. cooler? BTW who came up with Climax Media as the name for a company that sells humidifying beads? They sound like they should be selling selling strings of beads and other adult entertainment products

When I had my 54qt coolers, I placed a half pound of beads in each. Kept my cigars in perfect condition.

I've found blocks of "florist foam" (another troubling name ...) soaked with 50/50% work quite nicely and are cheap. I put the foam in glad-ware containers with holes in the lids.

RiveRat, if you do a search for Climax beads you will indeed get adult toy sites. The beads are Climaxx. You should not need much. I am using about 4 oz of gel crystals from Lowes called aquasoak in a 60 qt. Igloo that I have only needed to rehydrate with an ounce of distilled 2 times in 6 mo.

I think it's 1 pound of beads to 5 cubic feet. Works fine for me.

I live in a small house with a water dish outside the front door!

Like sucol, I've had good luck with using the foam in my cooler.

I have asked this question also. According to Mike at Bargain Humidor you don't have to be that exact.
