Cuban crafter cutters - Update -Review of 3 blade and samura
I've seen a couple other posts on some of these, but I was wondering if any had actually used the following 2 and had any comments on them.
Revolucion 3 blade cutter Samurai double blade cutter Update: well my buddy bought the 3 blade and I got the Samurai, couldn't help myself. I like gadget type stuff too much, even if they don't work perfect. I love to hear any more comments and I'll let you know how they are when they get in. Update 2: Well, we received the cutters and I'll do a quick review on each. First the Samurai, this cutter had blades that cut from the top and botton of the cutter rather than the sides. Mine is relatively stiff, and if very difficult to open at times, it does have an adjustment screw that I haven't played with yet. The cut was pretty good but not nearly as nice as my Xikar. I still like it because it gimmicky, but won't use it much. Now, my 2 friends bought the revolution and we cut 4 cigars with it. We were damn impressed, if the blades stay sharp (has lifetime warranty if not) we will use them regularly. 2 of the 3 blades do about 95% of the cut, and the 3rd, snips off what's left, but what made it so easy was the ammount of leverage that you get from the scissor like handles, makes it easy to cut with a lot of control. Is it as clean of a cut as the Xikar, probably not, but it's close and the ease of use is better. I wish I would have got the Revolucion instead of the samurai. I will probably use my Xikar as my primary cutter, but I like to have all things related to cigars and will change it up sometimes. - Note: All cuts were made on torpedo cigars, so performance may change when we try them on others. Update 3: Tried the revolucion on a typical shaped cigar and it's ok, but nothing close to my Xikar. It's good for torps and it's a conversation piece. Let me know if you any questions. |
