Music Box Humidor
This is a small quartersawn oak box. The orignial interior was old style metal. Probably dates to around 1900. The tobacco leaf on the leaf is a neat addition too.
Yeah, it has a wind up music mechanism that plays when the lid is opened. I think it's a waltz. Seems like I've heard it before, but a waltz expert I am not. Capacity is small because the music mechanism takes up space in the bottom. But I used it for awhile because I think it's cool. Then my nephew started smoking cigars and needed a humidor so I gave it to him. |

I'm reminded of a scene from "The Shop Around The Corner" in which the character played by Jimmy Stewart told his boss that a cigarette box that played music when it was opened was a terrible idea. No one would want to listen to the same song every time they opened the box for a cigarette. 20 times a day or so. I wonder how well this humidor did on the market.

I've seen one other. Very similar to this one.
I concur that it's a novelty. The space the mechanism takes up would be better used with more cigars. But my nephew says he shows it off a lot and gets very favorable comments. It's just a neat old thing. |

Never seen anything like that. Must be a real novelty.

The pics are embedded in the post. No clicking required. Saw this same problem in the Problems, Questions forum. You might not have permission to view CW album pics. You need an administrator or Moderator to change that I think.
