What pipe tobacco are you smoking today?

Gawith & Hogarth Best Brown Flake #2 11 years later. When I first got this tobacco, I didn’t know about Lakeland tobacco in that the blenders use a flavoring or casing called Lakeland. It is a really old formula that adds a soap or perfume like flavor to the tobacco. It is very popular with fans of Lakeland flavor. I found it annoying so this tobacco remained in unsmoked for many years in my tobacco stash.

Fast forward to the present, I decided to smoke some. The smell of the flake tobacco is very sweet, like dried fruit. Raisins and dried apricots come to mind. Wonderful smells.

Filled my pipe and fired it up. There was this hint of Lakeland flavor but it is way less then before. It is not as forward and annoying. What does dominate is really good Virginia sweet tobacco flavors. It is enjoyable, it lights easy since it is much dryer, awesome flavors overall.

If you have this tobacco in your stash, be prepared to age it a long time.

Wonderful smoking experience.

Smoking Samual Gawith Best Brown Flake this fine warm evening, sipping on Jim Beam High Ball. This simple drink is Jim Beam and ginger ale over ice. Nice for these warm evenings.

Wow Andy, that pipes finish is so cool. Those tobaccos are fantastic. Mind blowing strong with intense flavors. Nice.

PS. Balkan Supreme. Wonderful Balkan Blend. The orientals and Virginia’s really shine in this classic blend. Smooth and sweet.

Smoking Penzance this evening in a Seawolf Chubby Anse. Wonderful Balkan blend. Not a strong tobacco but the flavors are always satisfying. Thanks DStirg369 for the score. This tobacco is very hard to find.
