Lighters on the cheap

I posted the link in a thread in the Cedar Room but it might get more looks here.

I won't pay big money for a lighter so I've tried several inexpensive brands and types, mostly triple-flame, in the < $7 range. I've had great luck with an off-brand unit from a shop in Lansing, MI but they're an hour away from me so replacing one is not an easy task. We were in WalMart the other day and they have a Ronson single-flame torch that's shaped like a Zippo for around $5 so I got one to try.

It feels well-built and works great! I am going to pick up a couple more because they fit in the pants pocket much better than a round 2x or 3x flame and if I lose it I'm not out that much. They're available at a lot of other places like Walgreen's too.

Great little lighter for the price. I bought 5 when they first came out a couple of years ago, still on the first one and the way it's working I might not ever have to use the others.

For a reliable and cheap lighter these seem to be the way to go. If I ever need a another I'll stop by Walmart for sure.

been using them for a few years. Yes, less than five at a wally. They don't hold up in finish when you put them in a pocket with keys, but whatever.

They work, and work as well as a torch can be expected to, and I have not had one of them go bad. The only problem is I have easily a dozen of them lost around my house, and even when I find them, I can never find my refill tank.

The other day, I couldn't find my keys after getting gas. Turned out I threw them in the trash can with a coffee cup.

Oh Brian...

I don't think I've ever done that.

I've never been able to find these locally. Anybody want to work a trade (coffee/cigars) for a half-dozen or so?

I have two of the ronson lighters and they are great. One went through the wash in my jeans and when I tried it after it went through the cycles it lit right up.

That's how you clean and refresh them. It's in the 10 page users manual.
