Punch (Cuban) Royal Selection No.12

1998 Punch (Cuban) Royal Selection No.12

Pre-Smoke Comments:

Environment:
44 degrees and sunny, 43% rh.

Sitting in my favorite, padded, bench swing seat, next to my my personal, My Father ashtray, with plain water as my beverage, in a mostly enclosed, glass, community smoke shack here at the Veteran's Home of Wyoming.

Appearance and Construction:

A 5.1x42 claro, with a medium, fairly veiny textured wrapper, with a smooth cap and very hard bunch/feel.

Smoke Comments:

Perfect draw, even burn, conical coal, typical structure gray ash.

Faint, subtle aroma, and no burn in the throat.

Perfect balance, medium richness, body and flavor dominated by wood and earth, with a slight mustiness and mild in strength. No real aftertaste, and no sweetness, bitterness, sharpness, saltiness or burn on the tongue.

Summary Comments:

Overall, an excellent smoke in all the ways that truly matter (flavor, taste, draw and burn).

Held up quite well after 23 years.

Total Score: 82 out of 100

As always, thoughts, comments, tips, etc on my reviews are always appreciated.

Still learning as I go and trying to provide entertaining and most importantly, useful reviews.

These were apparently quite popular in their day.

A fair number of people on other forums have commented on having had some, and a few even still have a box left
