I received my blind test cigars today. I'll let them rest for a few days and then light one up.

Those are pretty...going to wait one or two more days to make sure they've stabilized.

Blind Review

7.5 x 49? med brown churchill/dbl corona, with smooth wrapper and very slight sheen. The cigar was firm along its length, no soft spots. Pre light, draw easy and aroma, subtle tobacco. 5 pts. After lighting, lots of flavorful smoke with, for me, perfect draw - slight resistance, just enough to let me know I was smoking a cigar. The burn was consistently even along its length. The ash was solid, medium grey. Ashed every 1.5 inches or so, the coal was slightly rounded. 5 pts. for burn 5 pts. for draw. The aroma was pleasant and fairly subtle, with no throat burn. 5 pts. The flavors were rich and balanced. I'd say it was medium in strength and full bodied. Flavors throughout were generous, with leather, earthy wood, and pepper predominating. 8 pts. There was no sweetness or bitterness. The finish/aftertaste was slightly sharp with a hint of saltiness. 8 pts. Overall, this was an excellent cigar. Its character distinguished, med/full bodied and a great smoke. The first lasted about 1.5 hrs, I was determined to smoke the 2nd slower, about 2 hrs. The first part, leather/wood/pepper predominated. After awhile, the pepper ended, leather/wood eased, and a slight caramel flavor appeared. Last 1/3, original flavors returned, with the pepper slowly fading. The only difference in the 2 cigars was in the 2nd - slower smoking - the caramel was more pronounced. 10 pts. Overall - 48/50 pts. At the right price, I'd keep these on hand and gladly share them with my friends. |
