New on the CW Magazine Page... Rioja wine!
If you are, like me, an inveterate wine consumer, then have a look at my latest A Rich Pour column on Rioja reds and whites. There's some really good stuff out there...
http://www.cigarweekly.com/index.php...ing-the-future Hope you enjoy the read!

Love Riojas -- Atmospheric article that makes me want to either go to Spain, or visit my liquor store and have Spain come to me.

Muga and Marques de Caceres have been my favorite Rioja producers for awhile.
When I was in Italy and France last year (first time for me in Europe), I could not believe the prices of wine. Most wines were dirt cheap compared to the US ... on the order of $6-25 for most bottles. And this is not two-buck Guido, but very good quality and some with 5-10 yrs of age. Same thing here would run $20-$100 ... or even more with "Napa Valley" on the label. |

What a great read. Thanks for putting that together. Being new to the wine world that will be a very nice resource for me to turn to. Coincidentally, of the last few months I've been gravitating towards Spanish wines for whatever reason.
Total Wine went on a stretch of several weeks doing samples of Spanish wines. Without fail I'd find one or two that I really enjoyed. |

These days, I find I'm focusing on many of the regions of Spain as much, if not more, as I'm keying South American wines. Tremendous value, by and large. Some of the old-growth garnacha and cariñena wines, in particular, are fantastic for the money.

Just a few of the sterling reds from Spain I've come across.
