Spanish Cedar Still Smellin' Strong

I lined a cooler with SC and made shelves out of it too. I talked a while ago regarding how strong the freshly-cut spanish cedar smelled. It has been about 3 weeks now and it is still pretty strong. I put a bunch of full cigar boxes in there. Will they be OK or is the strong smell going to permeate into the cigars? It's not like deadly strong smelling, but smelly nonetheless. Also, the wood seems to be much redder than any box made of spanish cedar (which are all more tan). What's up with that? I have a humidor and it is tanner SC too.
