New Amplifiers

Folks,

I am in the market for a new amplifier, I currently have Mirage AVS-500 satellite speakers with a 10 in powered subwoofer (also mirage). I currently use my amp for a surround system but also like to listen to 2-channel stereo. I have been looking at the Denon 3803 currently and am going to look at the Marantz and a few others. Does anyone have any recommendations as to a good amplifier in the <$1500 range?

Thanks.

Correct me if I am wrong but I thought that the model you listed was a receiver.

Tegster check out the forums at www.soundandvisionmag.com
and another good one is the www.audiocircle.com
these are friendly boards that have some serious audiophiles & there are reviews on the equipment.
I am also in the market for a new receiver for HT & audio, and I like the denon avr 1803 its in my price range. I own all mirage speakers, my newest is the center that is the omnipolar & i love it.

David, I looked and researched for a while before purchasing my Denon. You will not be disappointed. Yamaha is very good, but the Denon is a little better. Awesome sound. The first demo I listened to was a Denon with mirage speakers and it sounded really crisp and clear. I listened to many demos between the Denon and Yamaha with several different speakers. The bottom line was that the Denon had a better all around sound. For under $1500 you can get a great receiver. If you don't go with Denon, go with Yamaha, they are by far the two best on the market. Email me if you have any questions. Let me know what you get.

If you don't need a receiver, a Naim Nait 5 is hard to beat in your price range...unless you want to come on over to the "light" and go with a tube amp.

After much research, and auditioning different receivers. I decided on the Denon 3802. I had my eye on the 3803, but a local stereo shop gave me an incredible deal on the 3802. I could not pass it up.

What a great sounding receiver and a substantial upgrade from my original one (a pioneer).

I have been listening to it all weekend, and enjoying my cd collection like never before.

Thanks again for all of the advice.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have some music to listen to.
