Metsfan is right about the trays on the older design. However you "can" fit three layers in the top trays. With the cigar oasis (ribbon out the back and no seal problem) in the bottom I still have room for 4 boxes and around 100 singles (mostly robusto size and smaller). I could probably cram about 500 in there if I tried, but 400 seems to be a more reasonable goal for it. All things considered I'm extremely happy with mine.
