westsideelectric suggested I brew a beer for accompanying cigars, but the truth is there are already several out there that work well for me. My most recent discovery is a Belgian ale called Nostradamus, from a fairly new (12 y.o.) brewery called Caracole. Like many of the better Belgos, it comes in a nice big 750 ml bottle with a corked top -- a top that almost took out my eye, incidentally. I'm partial to big, rich brown ales like this, with plenty of alcohol, especially alongside a nice full cigar.

Although I say "rich" and "big", because it's Belgian, it's also fairly dry. Lots of flavor, but not cloyingly-sweet or too rich to drink. In fact, I managed to force down the entire bottle along with a HdM churchill. Lots of good yeast character and the subtle complexity that tells me the brewery was sneaking some spices into the kettle. Seek it out and ye shall be rewarded.
