Not exactly sure what you are asking, but starting threads is a matter of personal choice. To participate, you need not start a thread, just post one one you have an opinion on.

It's OK to get lost, we have years worth of good information and conversation.
This is an "old fashioned" bulletin board system, however! if the way you're seeing it is uncomfortable or confusing, you can change the way you view the site.

Go to the dark gray tool bar across the top of the page and click "User CP" which is your user control panel.

Following the left side tool bar, scroll down to the main heading "Settings and Options"

Beneath it click "Edit Options"
Then, scroll down to the third main section "Thread Display Options

Below there you can choose whatever option you like under "Thread Display Mode" I favor the "Linear-Oldest first" option.

I do hope that helps you, and perhaps makes it easier for you to read and enjoy what all we have to offer.
