I'm currently working on repurposing my walk in humidor for storing stuff other than cigars. For the last 20+ years it's been a great thing to have available, but now the cigar aging is done and retirement looming it's time to start smoking again.
I was disappointed to see that IRIS and Walmart no longer had the Ziploc WeatherShield storage boxes available as they were awesome. I've got a bunch acquired over the years for storing stuff other than cigars. If I didn't have the walk in, I would have been using these boxes for my box cigar storage.
IRIS still makes their WeatherPro storage boxes but the prices are way up from the Ziploc boxes they made and sold through Walmart. I did buy two of the largest IRIS boxes at Target, but they had to be drop shipped from IRIS and that's always sketchy when UPS is involved with transportation.
The reason for this post is to give a report on the EZY Storage brand boxes currently being sold at Target and Home Depot. Buy at Target if you can as HD charges $10 more per box. This is the largest 79.3 quart box. It's 7% larger than the largest IRIS 74 quart WeatherPro box. $13 per unit cheaper and appears to hold humidity just fine for our cigar storage needs. Plus you can hand pick your box and lid at your local Target store.
I added a non-display Govee hygrometer to the box lid to capture some preliminary data. Only reporting on one box, but both are working just great.
