I'll Drink to That! What is your favorite beverage to have with a cigar? Juice? Cola? Beer? Port? Single Malt Scotch? This room is for the discussion of beverages, especially alcoholic beverages that go well with cigars! |

A Few More Home Roasting Questions...
Alright I have been doing this roasting now for a couple of weeks using a Poppery II and a glass chimney and I am hooked big time!
Here are a few more Questions: Is it possible for a gap to occur during the first crack of the beans (sometimes over 1 minute)? Sometimes I am confused as to whether the noise I hear is the second crack or just a late bloomer from the 1st crack??? Is it normal to have such a wide variety of time from roast to roast to hear a second crack? I am normally getting the first crack of the beans starting around 2 minutes 30 seconds, and it last for about 1 minute to 1.5 minutes. Then I get the second crack anywhere from 4 to 6 minute mark. Are certain beans more difficult to hear the second crack? I find it much more difficult to hear the second crack when roasting Turquino. For what it is worth, I roast about 1/3 cup of beans at a time. They circulate well and have all been pretty evenly roasted and taste very good.
