Gawith Hoggarth & Co, Brown Bogie twist (rope)

Here is another popular Kendal brown twist by GH called Brown Bogie (aka Happy Brown Bogie). This is a Virginia and Kentucky Burley blend that is popular as pipe tobacco or chewing tobacco. This twist tobacco is different in that it is hot pressed longer then regular rope tobacco (i.e. Brown Irish Twist). So it is a thinner denser rope, with a square shape, similar to box press cigars. This tobacco has a reputation of being extremely strong in flavor and nicotine.

I used a cigar cutter to slice some coins and let it dry out for 2 hours since the tobacco was very wet. I rubbed out the coins into a loose shag and filled my pipe. At first light, the intense flavors hit the palate hard. This blend has a lot more Burley in the blend then the Brown Irish Twist. So it is stronger in flavor. Very earthy, woodsy, leather, very strong tasting. Smoking fast brings out bitter flavors. Slowing down the smoking brings out the best flavors.

This tobacco has awesome intense flavors but you really have to smoke it slow. Overall, intense rich flavors will keep you smoking this tobacco. Nicotine hit is hard and will make your legs wobble.

I found it on-line at P&C, but they are out of stock except for the maple flavor.
