Roll and stuff method
Here's a method of preparing flake tobacco I like doing. I believe flake tobacco smokes at its best when you can form a flake into a plug, and stuffing it into a pipe. It is easy, and works well for me. It is called the roll and stuff method.
Here is a flake of Esoterica Stonehaven. It is about as long as the pipe I'll be smoking it in. Start rolling it from bottom to top. Form a plug and press it between your fingers. This is the plug you will stuff into your pipe. Stuff it in your pipe end first. Work it into your pipe pushing down on it with your thumbs. Test your draw, if draw is too tight, take out some of the tobacco until you have desired draw. In this example, I was able to stuff the entire plug into the pipe and achieved a good draw. Enjoy. Here is a variation on the roll and stuff method if you have broken flake tobacco. Over time nice strips of flake break down a bit creating broken flake. You can still use the roll and stuff method when preparing broken flake tobacco.
Broken flake tobacco. (Looks like a dragon lol) Roll stripes of broken flake into small plugs. Stuff small plugs into pipe. As you can see, first small plug fills the bowl half way. Add another small rolled plug into the pipe to fill the bowl all the way to the top. Enjoy. The ash structure shows swirling tobacco. Sent from my iPod touch using Tapatalk
