Angel's Envy Rye
A buddy picked up a bottle at the Package store on base. He likes the original Angel's Envy so he wanted to try the rye. I am not a fan of the original.
One evening four of us got together to herf so we gave the rye a taste. I didn't care for it at all the finish is awful. Getting to the finish was very agreeable but then POW! The finish tastes like a sickening maple flavor. After whipping out my phone to booze sleuth I read it's finished in Caribbean Rum casks for up to 18 months. So, it was the rum finish I didn't care for. |

Pretty similar to my experience.
For $50 and up bourbon and rye, it seems pretty run-of-the-mill. I can find stuff I like better at lower price points. Pretty bottle though.

If you can find it, try the Sazerac rye. Regular expression, nothing fancy or exotic. For the price, it's damned good.

HEY! Good to see you back!
Also - Redemption Rye, and High Rye bourbon - both great at about 27$
