I would get a Haier or comparable wine cooler that goes up to 65 degrees and ditch the Gettysburg entirely. That is what most people who have temperature issues do if they for one reason or another do not want to go the temp-controlled Aristocrat route. There are tons of posts on what coolers to buy and how to modify them for the task. In most cases the modifications are minimal and are limited to making some changes to the shelving and sticking a box of climmax beads in for RH control.

Swamp coolers, while extremely energy efficient, do not work well in higher humidity environments due to their evaporative process. It would work acceptably in your apartment in NYC in fall and winter, but would be useless during the summer.
