Cigars increasing humidity

I have a new humidor nothing fancy it was a gift and came with the humidification device and the cheapy analog hygrometer. I calibrated the hygrometer and put it in the box. For a couple days I left the humidor empty just to see what the reading would be. The gauge read lower 60's so I added my smokes then the gauge went up to about 67% now went out and bought some more and added them today and now the humidor is up around 71%. That is fine with me but I would like to lower it since their are some ISOM smokes in there. Is it possible the cigars in the humidor have increased the humidity like this. I never added anymore water to the device so how do I lower it? Do I just have to wait it out and maybe it will stabilize to a lower RH? I just don't want the smokes to be to wet so it alters the flavor.
