I been doing it that way for 10 years now. Put them in the cooler and forget them. If they smoke dry, put some solution on the foam. If they smoke right, leave them alone. When I first started I was CONVINCED I needed the greatest temp and humidty conditions imaginable for my smokes to be okay. Naaa. Just keep them cool and humidified as YOU like.
I don't worry about the temp much even, mine is about 72-75 most of the time. I have it in the coolest room in the house, and the house is as cold as I want it. The smokes are fine.
