They are reporting that Skip Holtz of East Carolina will be the new coach at USF.

Looks like a good hire. Is it really a step up, though? What does USF have that ECU doesn't? I'm curious and don't know.

USF is in the Big East which is a BCS league. East Carolina in in CUSA and NOT in BCS. They think it's a good position as the Big East is, BY FAR, the weakest BCS league. Easiest to win and get in a MAJOR bowl.

He beat me to it. I was going to say, membership in the Big East, a BCS conference albit a relatively weak one currently. Given success, his next step might be to the SEC, Big XII, etc...

I was wondering how far of a step up it was too. ECU has done great things the last couple of years.

But they ain't in a big time conference and thats a huge difference.
He's now on a bigger stage and that's a step up.
