cigar taxes in the UK
Does anyone know the tax rate on cigars in the UK? I'm moving from Prague -which seems to have very reasonable prices on cubans - to the UK and I'm worried that I'm gonna run into big prices due to taxes.
Yes, I've tried google'ing it. Any uk folks out there? |

there are several UK based vendors here at CW.
From my experience in London, cigar prices are very high.

prices are quite high in the UK. Look up some of the vendors online and see what I mean.

Cigars are WAY expensive in the UK, mainly due to the tax structure. Duty Free is your friend.

Yes, tobacco is heavily taxed in the UK (about 75% of the retail price of cigarettes is tax). Cigars are taxed differently, that is, they are taxed by (net) weight - £163.22 per kilo (or about 2.2lbs), so that doesn't really help.
You'll probably get a better feel for the price differences by making straight like-for-like comparisons, to be honest.
