I do like using two wooden matches and have done the cedar spill trick a time or two. Some local shop would keep a cup of cedar spills at the register for their customers that mostly bought assorted singles as a courtesy.

Probably my favorite way to light up was with the perpetual gas flame Punch statue at the register of a UK shop I would patronize. It took me back to the old days when customers would stop in at lunch for a cigar and light it up for the walk back to the office.
