Anyone ever made a drawer-a-dor?
Just some after-lunch musings I had with a cigar buddy at work here today... I've recently (read: last 4 days) done much better than I expected on CBid, and am now toast. Again. Of course. Anyways...
I plan on doing the coolerdor thing, but as I opened my desk drawer to see two very recently arrived boxes (with one more on the way) and a humidor in there, I thought, sheesh, how cool would it be to convert this whole drawer to a humidor? Line the sides of the pull-out drawer with spanish cedar and make some kind of lid, man that'd be neat. Not necessarily for the ease of construction factor, but just for the pointlessness and the "Whoa" factor here in my office. Anyone ever done anything like this before? The drawer that we're considering for this is 10" high by 20" long and about 12" wide, a real nice size for what I want it for (hiding boxes from my SWMBO ).

I have not done it. But it would be simple. Cut some rectangles to line the bottom and sides. Miter the corners so you can slide the sides in place nice and snug. Rout a lip so you can put a big rectangle in place as a lid. Tack a piece of leather on so you can pull the top off.

Yes, Ichthus has one -- in a filing cabinet drawer. Check his gallery.

I've seen a filing cabinet humi (like a hanging file), but I've lost the link.
I've also seen desk-drawer inserts.

On another note, how hard is it to work with quadrant hinges? That might be a nice touch if it's not too too hard to do.
