New Box Storage Question

Newbie question ... I have heard that you should not put your new boxes straight into your humidor. Instead, your should put them in a freezer bag. Then, store them in the fridge for 1 day, the freezer for 2 days, the fridge for one more, then into the humidor - still in the freezer bag for a week or so. Is this necessary , or not? I have acquired an end table humidor and am ordering some boxes and assorted cigars to store in it, and don't want to ruin any good boxes with boxes with bugs. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Should I freeze my cigars?

Not necessary unless there is evidence of tobacco beetles such as holes, tobacco dust, or the bugs themselves.

Some people freeze everything, but they are definitely the exception and not the rule.

I would only freeze if you can't keep your stash below 70 degrees.

I open the box, check for damage, and put it in the humidor. The only beetle damage I have ever seen was on a single that I bought from a retail store. I don't worry about it.

Reading all the hype on the bugs had me worried. I will feel safe when I don't see any evidence of bugs in my new boxes. I can then put them to rest for a few weeks in the humi b4 smoking. Thanks

That's one good reason to freeze your cigars. The other is seeing evidence of beetle damage. IMO, those are the only two reasons you'd want to freeze your cigars.
