Idiot #1 needs help refilling triple flame lighter
I feel like an idiot - I cannot get my lighter to work.
It ran out of butane(sp?) last night - so I stopped by the local Walgreens to pick up a can for refilling the torch. I followed the instruction on the bottle....I tipped the can upside-down to fill it - held it for maybe 5 seconds - nothing - tried another 5 to 10 seconds - nothing - tried again for at least 30 seconds - nothing. Can anyone help this idiot out??? BTW - This is a lighter I got in a combo deal from cigarbid...if that means anything - maybe its just a cheap lighter Thanks , Dave

Question. Did you "bleed" the lighter before you tried to fill it? If not, sometimes there's enough back-pressure to prevent the butane from entering the lighter. Take a toothpick and press on the fill valve on the lighter until it stops "hissihg."
Another question. What kind of butane did you buy? If you went to Walgreens, you probably got the red/white can (Ronsonol, I think). This butand is "oily" and tends to plug lighters. Go to a tobacconist and get a can of Vector or Lava or, if they don't have anything else, Colibri. If these two things don't work, then it's probably the lighter. You might want to visit Bargain Humidors for reliable and affordable lighters. I do not work for, own in any part, or have any financial interest in Bargain Humidors, btw.

ditto what jefslat said.
Another thing to do every once in a while is too use a can of compressed air and give the lighter nozzle a few 1-2 second blasts of air. This helps to clear out any ash or other particles that may have accumulated there.

Yep, jefslat is right again.
I used to have trouble with my torches until I figured out the bleeding thing. My first cheapie knockoff I bought at my local shop is still going strong. |

If you do, don't buy the cheap ones. I have tried Vector, Lava & Collbri fuel I have bled it numerous times. It ain't gonna happen. Like I said the Solo Trek from BH has worked fine but don't buy the real affordable ones The Orion Space is the one I can't make work. Sold as-is no warranty |

Len, talk to Mike about it. I have one of those Space lighters and the only trouble I have with it is that it uses the fuel up too quickly...

I always feels like an idiot by smoking with disposable lighters. I find it most economic and won't feel anything if it is lost.
