Taking a glass humidor out of the house and in the sun (indi
I would like to get some feedback if there would really be an effect on the cigars if I took my humidor, glass 3 tier display type, out on our boat for the day?? The kicker is we live in AZ, and although the humidor wont be in "direct" sunlight it will be exposed to sunlight AND the air temp will be 100-112 degrees.
Would 6-8 hrs of this exposure have a drastic effect on my cigars ?? Would there be something you would recommend, besides lots of distilled water, to help maintain the humidity?? The reason for the whole humidor to go with us is because we are meeting up with a very large group of people and I'm in charge of providing the smokes, so I thought it would be easier to bring the whole thing then be short sticks. Thanks for your input EmQ |

I don't see any huge problem as long as they don't cook in the sun.
A better, safer idea (for your glass humidor, that is), is to buy an appropriately sized tupperware container, throw in a small humidifying device and take that with you. |

Unless it's for display purposes I would definitely go with the Otterbox. I have a 2-count, 3-count, 5-count, 15-count, and 18-count I use for different occasions. I'm leaving tomorrow morning to fly to Milwaukee for 4 days, and I'm bringing the 18-count. It works perfectly and keeps my cigars safe. Whenever Tiara and I go to our B&M we use the 5-count and I pick out 3 cigars, she picks out 2. Works great!
If it's for display though... I've left cigars in hot places before for a few hours (never THAT hot though), and once even left my 5-count in the car for 2 days on accident. Brought the cigars in, put them in the humi for a few days. They smoked fine and no cursed beetles.

Yep, agree with a Rubbermaid type sealed container with a humidified device of some sort. I wouldn't want to have to lug the humi out and worry it might get damaged.
Can't go wrong with the Otterbox. Watertight, almost indestructable and they float.

Otterbox for sure.
If you need lots of rrom, throw'em in an extra picnic cooler. Not only will it keep them out of the sun, but help keep them cooler.(no pun intended)
