Strawberry shortcake for dessert last night induced me to 'go Irish' with back-to-back pours of Jameson '1780' 12 Year Old and Bushmills 16 Year Old... The first lovely and 'spring-like', with notes of ripe apples and sultanas intermingling with fresh mint leaves and grains - the sort of whiskey one could easily get carried away with. The second more substantial and deeper in tone, rounder and richer - a classic.
