Heartfelt Aluminum Humidifer Question

This question is for any of you who have one of the slim Hearfelt Aluminum 65% bead humidifiers for a desktop.

My question is how do you know when to add water to it and how much do you add. I understand that if the humidity starts to fluctuate then you may need to add water or remove some but is that the only guage and how much should be added? Is there more of a standard interval to follow? I've read with regular beads that once you see them start to turn white that you should add some distilled water until they are clear but with this Aluminum unit I can't see the beads to judge.

Any assistance would be appreciated. This is my first foray into beads.

Thanks,

Scott
