Good blends for less tongue Bite
Someone told me that there are certain tobaccos which will tend to give less tongue bite than others... can someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks! -John

The usual culprits for tongue bite are Virginia tobacco and moisture.
That being said, try setting out your pipe tobacco to dry for several hours prior to smoking. (Of course if you live in an area where the normal humidity is 70% or more, this may be a problem.) I find Balkan, Oriental and Burley blends are usually a safe bet. Try Robert McConnells Oriental blend ... it's one of the coolest and smoothest blends I've smoked. The Frog Morton series from McClelland is also very good.

Yeah, I tried smoking some Midnight Ride I've had for a while a couple days ago - totally messed me up! My tongue STILL hasn't recovered from that one, and it just snuck up on me... one puff I was fine, the next, boom! Tongue bite!

any tobacco from Mccranies bulk selections seems free of bite to me. that said Im beginning to belive bite originates from how a tobacco is processed or blended more than anything else.
