Guinness 200th anniversary.
This is supposed to be an old recipe. I really am having a hard time getting all of the nuances, but I can say that this is the old Guinness that I bought when I was sixteen. Far more robust than the current stout, I managed to compare them.
This seems to have a mild sweetness underneath the bitterness of the roasted malt. It's spicy, with a taste of cinnamon. It suggests that there would be a chocolate in it, and I do believe that there is a cocoa taste on the finish. A bit thick and heavy, and unlike th others, it's carbonated. It poured a nice carbonated head, good lacing, and long into the glass it still has a little bit of a head.the carbonation adds bite and the tingle, whereas nitrogen leaves a texture like cool whip.
Guinness draft sucks. The current extra stout tastes watery and slightly tart. Weaker. This isn't a world class beer, but it's a really good stout and a huge improvement over the current product. It's a great beer for its class.
