My freezer didn't freeze by cold air. There were coils in the shelves which would get cold. I put old cedar inserts on top of the shelves, so the boxes didn't directly touch the shelves. That is exactly what happened though, when the cold hit the humid air, it caused the moisture in the air to condense. My friend, who has a PhD in chemistry even tried to solve the problem and couldn't, because of the humidity of the outside air. As I said before, if it's inside then no problem.
