Was at my LCS Friday evening with a group of buddies watching the opening ceremonies. We were all bored shortly after it started. The general consensus it was not very original and so very lame.

Anyone else suffer through it?

I didn't catch the opening ceremonies, find them rather boring. I have enjoyed some of the swimming, and I'm always amazed at the ability of the men gymnasts on the Rings. Waiting patiently for track and field to get cranked up next week.

Too pre-packaged, too edited for time, too many commercials, too much talk.

Just show events and shut up.

And yeah, if I never see that couch gnome Costas again, it will be too soon.

If you're only watching the network prime time coverage then you are not really watching much. Luckily Comcast and nbc stepped up big time and offer damn near every single event on demand. Loving it so far!

I think this thread was about opening ceremonies. I too felt they were awful, and this is coming from someone who always is surprisingly impressed with all of the abstract pageantry of an opening ceremony. Parade of nations is always great, but that's not what we are talking about here
