After growing up in Oregon and now living in DC all the while being stationed all over the country (From Chicago to Conneticut to Mississippi to Seattle) I'd take the overall weather in Eugene to anywhere else.
Within a 2-3 hour drive you can have any weather you want - everywhere else in the country you really are stuck. Ulster - nothing compares to the nastiness of hot & humid.
