Just getting in to wines
I've never liked wine before, not sure why. Maybe it's because most of the wine my dad drank was out of boxes (before boxes were cool). Now, dad was no drunk by ANY means. He just enjoyed a glass of wine or a beer when he got home. So I never paid much attention to wine or beer before.
Before, that is, a trip to Raleigh, NC. I went on a business trip with some high placed execs in the company I worked for at the time. We dropped in to a place called Vino. It was a really fancy wine bar and we snacked on prosciutto, some cheeses, and drank expensive bottles of wine. I was hooked!
I wouldn't think it's a good time in our country to try and start a wine shop right now, but a Vino 100 (chain wine shop) opened up the tiny town of Mt. Airy. I dropped in the other day and after some very good care by the owner, she recommended a bottle 2006 Mazzei Zisola. BAM! This is an incredible wine. I'm no where near wine-educated enough yet to do any sort of decent review but this is a VERY bold red. There are some good reviews around the 'net if you want to contemplate taking a shot at this fine bottle of wine. I encourage you to give it a try!
