Greetings. I am a first time poster, long time reader, with a question about mold. Currently I have a 100ct $100 humidor and I am using a Premier (climmaxx) humidifier and a digital pen hygrometer, both from Bargain Humidors. I check my humidor daily, and the humidity has never been above 70%. Temperature in the humi has been in the mid 70's all summer. My problem is that I have a white, not blue/green, substance appearing on several cigars. For the most part this appears as a very fine, thin fuzz that seems to cover the entire exposed surface of the affected cigars, without any concentrated patches. I have wiped it off several times but it comes back in a few weeks. I was hoping this was bloom, but just today I noticed some concentrated white fuzz on the foot of one of the cigars, where I assume you would not find bloom. And, as much as I want to describe this white stuff as crystals, it really appears to be a fine fuzz. How can I tell if this is mold or bloom/plume? Is there a distinction between white mold and the blue/green mold? I have read elsewhere that the white mold is nothing to be concerned about, but I am wondering if anyone here has any thoughts on the matter? Any help is greatly appreciated.
