I need a temporary humidor

Well, while I'm away from my humidors over the summer, I realize that a herf is coming up, and I want storage. I've got an empty RA box that seems to seal rather tightly, and I would like to use it, if at all possible (something about the scent of an empty cigar box makes a man realize what real happiness is). I want to keep this as simple (and cheap) as possible, cause it will only be for a half dozen or so smokes, and only for a couple of weeks, at max.

So, then, since I don't have an extra hygrometer laying around, is there any good way to keep it at 62-65% (besides beads)? I've finally come to the realization that the time for beads is drawing nigh, but I want to postpone until I consolidate my sticks (probably into a cooler), and then figure out what I need.

Thanks, all.

Cheap, efficient, and easy humidification would be one of two products that I know of.

HumidEze
Boveda

What Mike said. When you get to the coolerdor, the beads are nice but there are other alternatives that are cheaper and/or easier that you might look into as well.

JR humidicards: $5.00 for 10. The size of a credit card and about 2.5x the thickness. You can probably also buy them at your local tobacconist.

The judicious use of these and tupperdors are keeping me and my smokes happy for my 6 months in Europe sans humidor.

One caveat: if you're going to use them, only soak them in the distilled water for half the time they say. A minute to 1:30 at most. Also, the cards will not reduce humidity. So there's that.

For the optimal solution, get a tube of beads.

Boveda packs WILL protect agains both under and over humidifying. Place the box inside a tupperware container along with a Boveda pack and the cigars and you should be good to go...
