Nothing "likely" about it - he was an acid freak and that is what fried his brain. There are a couple of PF documentaries out there that talk about Syd and his influence on the band (remember he was only with them for one studio album). He was another talent scarified on the alter of self indulgence.

Barrett actually had two studio albums solo, The Madcap Laughs and Barrett. Neither great, but the the second is better IMO. Gilmour played bass and wright play keyboards on the second album.

Floyd seemed to be much better without him.

Floyds classics, Dark Side, Animals, Wish You Were Here…were all with Waters. I don't think these would have been the same with Barrett.

The Wall..yeah..I know, but that was more of a Roger Waters album with Floyd as backup band, IMO. With exception of a few songs.

I meant Floyd was better without Barrett.

Wasn't Gilmour added when Barrett started to go batty? Seems like I remember something about that and something about Gilmour being one of Barrett's best friends from their school years?

I was agreeing with you. Better without Barrett,..no question.

I was saying the group hit it's peak with the line up of Waters, Gilmour, Wright and Mason. (IMO)

Have listened to it twice now - once via headphones and on the way into work in the car. Man....its good. Several tracks VERY reminiscent of Wish You Were Here and the others very much a mix of Momentary Lapse and Division Bell. VERY good stuff...VERY VERY good....
