Closest I came was a domestic with a hole just under the band. Took me a long time to figure out why it was such a light draw.

About 6 years ago I had a beetle outbreak in one of my coolerdors. It was in a bundle of inexpensive cigars. It was summertime, and my den was about 78 degees that day. Fortunately, the beetles didn't spread to any other cigars, but I did find several beetles in the bottom of the coolerdor when I cleaned it out. That outbreak convinced me to by a small refridgerator and set it up as a fridgedor. I have not had a problem with beetles since then.

One time last summer. My smoking room - cigar storage is in a upstairs room above the attached garage. The AC thermostat malfunctioned while I was out for the evening (wife and daughter were out of town) and the temp got up to 80 degrees. It is normally kept at 72 degrees.

Fortunately the outbreak was confined to one box of NC that had about 10 sticks in it. One cigars was completely destroyed and one damaged to unsmokable.

I froze the remaining sticks and had no more problems.

So far the only outbreak I have had. Knock on cedar.

I still have never made it SOP to freeze everything before I store it.

Mark

Not from my humidor personally, but ive had cigars sent to me that were full of beetle holes. The one i remember the most was a domestic ERDM - big one with a cedar sleeve. I got it in a trade, and the guy that sent it to me knew he had bugs in the box it came from, but somehow it didnt cross his mind to check under the cedar before he sent it to me. There was that "dust" just falling out of it!

I received a bundle of NC's in which about 1/3 of the sticks had beetle holes. The dealer (JR's) was very gracious, exchanging the sticks and sending me some unsolicited freebies.

Luckily I've never had a problem.

My coolers are in the basement and even in the summer it's never warmer than 67 or 68 degrees down there. It certainly helps

Once in my coolerdor starting in a La Unica (fuente made). A second time in a desktop and it originated in a HdM Epicure. Caught it at the larva stage. Since then, I freeze everything (-10 degrees) prior to going into my humidors. Havent had a problem since. Knock on wood!
