Espinoza 601 La Bomba III Lancero

Good firm bunch with a near perfect draw; awesome aromas from the foot and the cold draw.

Power from the get go. Not a "super ligero" or anything like that, just a cigar that lets you know early on that you are smoking a serious cigar. Ash is light grey and not flakey, but knocks off easily. The burn is mostly even but may require some correction later.

One reason I love Lanceros is, like coronas , you get a good sample of the capa before the flavors if the tripa kick in. In this case you get the classic Maduro capa flavors before the espresso flavors develop.

At about 1/3, light white pepper notes develop, mainly in the retrohale.

I should mention that I have developed a preference for a v/cut for Lanceros, mostly because it cuts off the pigtail and provides more surface for the smoke than a guillotine cut.

A bit of sweetness creeps in about half way, changing the character of the cigar most pleasantly. The plentiful smoke adds greatly to the enjoyment of the cigar.

Approaching 2/3 the white pepper notes pick up, adding to the flavor profile quite nicely, once again changing the overall profile of the cigar. It is reminiscent of a good Trinidad Fundador, just not as dramatically. Not a fair comparison, I know, but still almost the three-in-one complexity.

A quick purge and a sip of beer fight off a growing but not overwhelming heat and the cool but strong smoke continues to be pleasant. This is definitely a good example of a Lancero that will fit nicely into the rotation of Lancero lovers.

Putting it down at one inch to avoid finger burn. Definitely a fan of this cigar. 8.9/10, Joe Bob says check it out.
