OK, the reason for my question
A couple of months ago I purchased a box of cigars that smelled musty and moldy but looked great with dark oily wrappers.
As with all new buys, I put them in the freezer for the standard 3 days. After they came out the moldy smell was almost gone. I smoked one a week later and I thought I had a good smoke for being so young(07), yet I could detect a mild mustiness. Yesterday I took the box out of the wine cooler(65rh) to smoke another and could smell the mold again. Upon further inspection I found what looks like plume and mold mix on the wrapper and some fuzzy mold on a few feet. I wiped the wrappers off and clipped the foot on the affected ones, and smoked one. There is some wonderful tobacco flavors, but also some mold taste. I sacrificed one cigar and unwrapped it, but I didn't see any mold. Since this box has always smelled like mold I think it has been there from the beginning and I couldn't see it. The other fifteen boxes in the cooler looked fine. Would you toss the box or wait a little longer and re inspect? Mark
