Mad Dawg bites the Mr. B's HSB 1945 Blend Coronita
My lunchtime smoke today was an HSB 1945 Blend Coronita from Mr. Bundles. It's a little smoke (4x40) with a Conn shade rosado wrapper, Honduran binder, and Honduran/Dominican/Nicaraguan filler. Not the kind of thing a big ring gauge maduro-lovin' guy like me would normally try, but I got one in my Master Sampler so I decided to give it a whirl. I'm glad I did.
The wrapper was smooth as silk, the only flaws being one prominent vein and a small greenish spot. Construction was very good - firm, no soft spots. Clipped easily and cleanly. Pre-light flavors mild and hard to pin down. Draw was a bit tight, but I only got these Saturday and they may have needed some RH reduction. Lit easily, burned evenly, white to light gray ash with very little flaking. Flavors of leather and cedar predominant, with hints of coffee and earthy/woody undertones. Medium-bodied. Finish was light, clean, and pleasant. Overall, a very nice quick smoke for lunch breaks, walking the dog, or whatever. I'd rate it in the 82-84 range because of the wrapper glitches and the draw, but once they dry out a bit I'd bet they get better. Recommended.
