What have you bought on vinyl lately?

I have 2 double LPs inbound:

Depeche Mode - Songs of Faith & Devotion. Reissue on 180g vinyl.

The 1975 - Notes on a Conditional Form. British release on white vinyl.

Nice.
I haven't even seen a vinyl record in like 25 years at least.

My very first record was the Bee Gees greatest hits album, lol

Was probably about 9 years old or possibly even younger.

Also had a Star Wars Christmas, and an Alvin and the Chipmunks Christmas album around then too.

Probably worth some money now to Star Wars fans or vinyl collectors

That's a great DP album. Kim bought 2 new LPs last week. I prefer to haunt antique malls, particularly for comedy albums. Most people don't play comedy records more than once or twice, so they're generally close to mint. In the last couple of months: Redd Foxx, Moms Mabely, Bob Newhart, Mort Sahl, Jonathan Winters and more from the old school. I think I spent $200 the last trip and no disc was more than $10 (usually less).

There's a bona fide used record store nearby that was closed for 18 months that is opening Thursday-saturday late afternoon hours. That's our next target.

There is a new record store that opened in Benton where I live that carry new and used LP's. I've been going by about once a month to check it out. Picked up some new LP's from Rammstein, Black Label Society, Less Paul, and Judas Priest . My favorite used find was "Hooker and Heat"! I am also a big Clutch fan and have picked up several releases from them over the past year. Clutch did several streaming concerts during the lockdown and put 2 of them on vinyl that I had to pick up. Also picked up Dropkick Murphys "Turn up that dial". I will stop there for now.lol

Parents passed away last year. I kept a few things from the house including 20+ feet of lps from my Dads collection. Mostly white label radio stuff, lots of Zappa, and rare bootlegs. With junk mixed in lol. Guess what? I don’t own a record player but have a kick ask amp and speakers in my media room.

So any record player suggestions would be great.

Look for an audiophile equipment repair place. They often have pieces traded in for even better equipment. Outside of retail, you won't find used equipment with a warranty anywhere else. Vintage audio on the secondary market is really a crap shoot. Lots of times they want to get rid of it rather than get it repaired.

Estate sales are another one. Preferably one with hand lettered signs. You may have to go to 50 of them before you find any, but when you hit the jackpot you can hit it big for a great deal.

You might need a phono preamp if your preamp doesn't have a dedicated phono port. They're less than $20 at Amazon.

I think our local Target has a fairly large LP section. "Fairly large" considering the media format was all but dead for decades. It's coming back, which is sort of amazing.

I don't see the same type of comeback for other media formats - 8 Track, cassette tape, and Beta/VHS. But LPs are doing what would be considered impossible only a few years ago.

I have seen some 8-track and cassette new releases along with the vinyl. Not as prevalent and vinyl. Cheap Trick did their new release as cd/vinyl/8 track. Said they released it on 8 track because then they were listed for the number one best seller that week on 8 Track.lol

Disney recently released a cassette tape. I think it was the Cruella soundtrack.
