Another direction to take might be a Falcon. They are metal stems with a soft bit and threaded, interchangeable bowls. They are extremely durable, can be found at reasonable prices on ebay all the time, and you can get as many bowls for it as you want. Another great thing is they have a reservoir below the bowl the collects moisture so you don't get a gurgly smoke. Easily cleaned and cared for as well.
