I declared the Dark N Stormy to be the offical long drink of Summer 2008 and in turn referenced past "official Summer drinks." In 2006, it was all about the Pimms Cup.

Tall glass full of ice
1/2 oz fresh lime juice
1/2 oz fresh lemon juice
1/4 oz Cointreau
3 oz Pimms
Top with lemon lime soda
Garnish with a cucumber wheel or spear (the snack is the best part!)

You can go the easy route and just use Pimms topped with soda, but you could also go to Ryan's Steakhouse and call it a fine steak dinner.

I also like to add a splash of gin (afterall Pimms is gin based, but on the weak side.) This is not any "official" recipe I've ever seen printed, so I'll put it as a footnote.

Went to Acadiana in DC and had my first. Will be happy to pick some up and try out your recipe.

They did!

It was really good, Going to try to find Pimms locally and your suggestion to add gin is first in the mix rotation. Know they have it in NH.

Have you been to Deep Ellum in Allston? Very knowledgeable bartenders. Will probably stop in there for one soon.

They have Pimms at Marty's. I'm sure Martignetti’s and Blanchards both carry it. It's not terribly rare.

I can't say I've even heard of Deep Ellum, but I guess I don't get out enough!

There used to be a bar in Boston touting their own homemade herbal infused gin (rather than using Pimm's No 1 out of the bottle.) It was a few years back (perhaps '06

) and I can't remember who it was. Perhaps No 9 Park.

I can't say that I've sampled many cigars with this drink. But when it comes to cocktail hour I'm a big fan of the LGC No 4 and Punch Maggie.
