Home hobby questions. Advice/thoughts/ideas needed

So, I have a wine cooler that I use for storage. It's pretty full with boxes, but a lot are half full, just a few in 'e,m etc. What I REALLY wanted is a singles drawer like in a nice cabinet (Aristocrat et al.)

So, I have been kicking this around for a while, everything from getting some spanish cedar and trying to build something myself to getting one made to trading for one, a bunch of different thoughts.

Then I kinda gave up on the idea. One, there is no local seller of Spanish Cedar and the online places I found were expensive. Two, it would be expoensive to have oit made, so I keep avoiding that as well.

I was pondering this again today and came up with a somewhat unique idea (I think). I am thinking about taking various cigar boxes (Different brands, shapes, etc) and fastening them together in a sort of grid to make the various seperate trays for singles. Maybe put some extra dividers in the boxes to facilitate more options.

My basic idea has me cutting a cardboard template that fits the shelf rails (It gets narrower in back) and then arranging the boxes in a way that they can sit on the rails and support themselves.

I like the idea because I think it would be pretty unique...

I have not actually worked any of this out physically, just knocking it around the old noggin and these are the problems I think will affect the project....

1. How do I keep the boxes together? (Currently I'm thinking some sort of wood glue, maybe an odorless iff they make it?)

2. Will the boxes support themselves? (I'm thinking that that much surface area glued together would be able to sustain itself and not sag or break, but if not what do you guys think I can do? Put wood across the bottom?)

3. The glue itself. (Will it smell too much? Hold up in a humid climate, etc.)

Any other concerns you guys would have for me to think over? Ideas? Advice?
