The Elmer T Lee does not come across as a vanilla bomb nor overly sweet to me, and some bourbons do. But whisk(e)y is not for everyone. Drink what you like, like what you drink.

This weekend I enjoyed Angel's Envy and Balvenie Portwood 15 and 21 year old. The Balvenie 21 is something quite tasty.

Found some at my local shop the other day and grabbed a bottle. I'll be in it some this weekend.

Delicious. Definately not loaded with vanilla. Peppery, slightly fruity with an oakie dry finish.

Price is good too, so as long as the supply at local shop holds out I'll have it on hand.

They have it in regular stock? Wow, I live in Lexington and can NEVER find it. People grab it here as soon as it hits the shelves.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did they charge you?

Any suggestions for something comparable? This was my favorite under $50 Bourbon and now bottles are only found on the secondary market for $300 plus. With the risk of beating a dead horse, Buffalo Trace Bourbons are stupid rare and stupid expensive. At least from what I've found.

Primetime Liquors in San Diego has BT and Sazerac rye at quite reasonable prices. I order them by the case every so often. The shipping might seem steep, but if you can get BT at $21 for 750ml (and they offer it on sale at that price quite often), the shipping adds about $5 per, $26 is still a helluva good price. Happy hunting.

Thanks Jason. I'm familiar with this store as they are one of the premium BT gougers. I prefer Four Roses Small Batch or Single Barrel over regular BT for a few dollars more.

If you get the chance, try the Sazerac rye. Not the 18, which is superlative in taste and hard in the wallet, but the regular. If you like rye, it's a good value @ $24 for 750ml.
