Southern Draw Soli Deo Gloria Maduro

One of two "special" Southern Draws included in the "goody bag" for the CATS fest last weekend in San Antonio. Churchill size with a medium Colorado wrapper with a few veins but otherwise very smooth. Medium bunch with light tobacco notes from the wrapper and foot. Clean V cut with a perfect draw producing similar tobacco notes.

Initial draw produced smooth and clean tobacco notes with some black pepper in the retrohale. A mostly light grey ash burned evenly except where lighted incorrectly. As the cigar progressed, the burn self-corrected.

At 1/3 the flavors are holding steady with pleasant pepper notes in the retrohale and wonderful aged tobacco. A nice bit of sweetness has developed to complement the flavors. The smoke remains cool and pleasant.

At 2/3 the cigar has opened up to be truly excellent. The sweetness has picked up with flavors including sweet spices like cinnamon and nutmeg. Truly a wonderful cigar. Robert Holt has said that he wanted to produce a solid cigar, and in my opinion he has.

Nubbing this one at one inch, it left me wanting more. A very pleasant finish , this cigar earns a 9.75/10, Joe Bob says check it out.
