Smokeless Ashtray(s)

Has anyone had any experience with these things ???

I was considering getting one for inside where I am currently living , just to help a little bit with the smoke inside , I stand at the back door with it open smoking .... since it is an apartment/double , I kind of want to keep the smoke outside as much as possible...

Thanks

Dan

they draw the smoke down, through a charcoal filter, and out. So they do work somewhat.

Might i suggest an ionic based air cleaner for the apartment? You just run it while you're smoking and for a little while after.

They typically emit some ozone, so you don't want to touch these if anyone in the house has asthema - or at least don't run it while they're around.

I have this one:
http://amzn.to/1NgjFAw

You can turn the 'ozone' off and on, and it has 5 levels.
you can run it on high using 'away' mode if the house is empty - run it for an hour if you're going to be gone for 2 or 3... it shuts off after the hour, then your regular ac/heat process moves/dilutes/ the ozone (and it degrades) to safe levels.

I AM NOT A SCIENTIST or a DOCTOR / Pulmonary specialist... this is my opinion based on MY use of the machine.

It works.

smoking inside... remember smoke clings to the walls, ceiling, drapes, furniture, windows... cleaning those frequently helps clear the smell

the ozone machines do help, I used to set mine to run then go for a walk

Ashtrays don't work. You really have to seal up a room with an exhaust directly to the outside for room smokers or the ozone machines to really work At all. Even then, someone sensitive to smoke is still going to complain of it.

Not sucks, but that's pretty much it. Commercial level smoke scrubbers are very expensive.

I was looking more at the ionic/ozone approach...

It would help with more than smoke , this place is closed up most of the winter , and I can move it around ...

I have this, but like all air cleaners of this type, you have to clean it on a regular basis. Doesn't appear to be available anymore, though plenty of other options are out there.
